It's a snow day here in Kansas City. LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!
TRAINING
Ok, so I'm actually catching this up for the past two weeks.
The Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup was snowed out on January 11 and was called off due to my trip to Florida on January 19. We are itching to get back with this group (luckily, we're on for this weekend!).
Mondays at Elite Dragon Presas Arnis class, we've been working on learning supported blocking as well as the "redondo". Supported blocking is the earliest, most fundamental version we learn. The class is doing really well!
As I mentioned on Wednesday (see Wednesday 1/22 in Bloggery below), I attended and taught a session at the Partnership of Women Martial Artists' symposium in Tampa, FL last weekend. While we were there, we got in some training time with one of Mr. Chick's seniors, Sal Todaro, on some Balintawak concepts (which was super fun and I'm very grateful). Sal was a fantastic host.
Here's the group picture of the instructors from that event.
BLOGGERY:
Wednesday 1/15: Shenangans: Your Martial Art (and Mine)
Monday 1/20: Nothing - got wrapped up in the happy aftermath of the Chiefs winning the AFC Championship. :)
Tuesday 1/21: About the Competitive Spirit
Wednesday 1/22: Finding Friends in a Strange Land
Thursday 1/23: We're All Crazy, You Know That?
Come join us on your favorite social media platform! I'm on MeWe, Facebook, Twitter (right now my Twitter feed is 99% Chiefs, fair warning), Tumblr, Instagram and even Pinterest!
OTHER COOL STUFF
This was one of the more popular Sunday memes I've ever posted, and it goes to show you, some things are just universal in the martial arts world.
Sorry not sorry.
Nice old video of Remy Presas with Bruce Chiu.
FRIDAY THOUGHTS
Finally my routine returns to normal, except for that whole "My NFL team that I've been cheering on for 29 years will play in the Super Bowl in a little over a week" thing. The Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup will (theoretically) be back on, and Mondays at Elite Dragon as well. I feel like I'm finally back into a groove like I was before the holidays.
Have fun, stay safe and warm, and keep training, y'all!
