My Week in Stick Chicktivity - 2/28/20
Winter ending early you say?
I'm not ready! Can't I get ONE more snow?
Had a great time at the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup on Sunday!
We brought our "toolbox" of stuff - staves, hatchets and tomahawks, tonfa and sai, and all sorts of stuff that can take a beating - and we interpreted our "Defensive Responses" with these weapons. We played with what happens when you have one weapon, when you have a long one or a short one, or two unequal ones, and talked about how things are similar but are also very, very different tool to tool. Everybody had a blast and we'll be sure to do that again soon.
Monday at Elite Dragon Presas Arnis class, we reviewed our form - Anyo Isa (stick form 1) - and then we started working triangle footwork in with our supported blocking. Very happy with the progress on Monday nights!
Tuesday: What's in Your Toolbox?
Wednesday: Aging and the Martial Arts
There's also the new Stick Chick Blog Teespring store! Check out the new offerings that pop up every once in a while! SHOP HERE.
OTHER FUN STUFF
I'm a fan of this web comic, so when they do a comic that's martial arts I'm all over it! Click on the image and you can see it over on their site:
I'm rooting for Sokura Kokumai in the Olympics for sure! Read about her quest for Olympic Gold in Karate (and the sacrifices she makes to be on Team USA): No car, no job, no home: What a female karate master gave up to go for 2020 Olympics gold
Gonna be busy with Older Daughter in town for the weekend (wedding planning y'know). But I'll be at the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup on Sunday as usual!
Y'all stay safe, train hard, and have fun!
