This is it - the last Friday of 2018!
Where has this year gone? I mean, didn't I just move here from Texas?
Wow. Okay, so let's round up this week's martial arts goodness (or lack thereof, thanks to the holidays).
TRAINING
Over at the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup , we worked on a progression of wrapping disarms (aka "dip the tip"), isolating the technique to get the core mechanics down. We did this vs forehands and backhands. We also discussed "non-optimal" techniques - that is, you may have something you don't like much but it's good to have it in your arsenal because you may get presented with that one time where it's the best choice available.
Then the holidays hit.
BLOGGERY
Holiday + this mystery illness I'm fighting = not a lot of blogging. DO NOT WANT but hopefully things will get back to normal shortly.
This week the Stick Chick Blog on Facebook got to 500 likes! Whoo-hoo! Come join us!
Like and follow the Stick Chick Blog on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and MeWe, and hey, I've got a Pinterest board, and I post on Google Plus too, until Google murders it (I did like it so...)
Note: ANY links to the old blog published before 10/10/18 that you run across online are now broken. They're as gone Halloween (wow, I know, right?)
OTHER NEATO BURRITO STUFF
Why, yes, you can see FMA's in movies and TV.
There's still time to chime in on last week's Showdown Saturday question on Facebook: Does your martial arts school "go dark" (no classes)?
This made the rounds this week in martial arts circles because IT'S HILARIOUS.
FRIDAY THOUGHTS
Chiefs lost, but hopefully we'll make up for it with a big win at Arrowhead this weekend. Unless this thing I'm fighting becomes utterly unbearable, I'll be there.
It's a New Year, and I have a lot of irons in the fire. I didn't do resolutions last year and I probably won't this year. That being said, I do have some goals that I plan to pursue in 2019.
