Okay, so I haven't updated y'all in a whole MONTH. Let's get moving!
TRAINING:
As you might expect, during my month-long hiatus due to total hip replacement, I don't have a lot of personal training to report. Actually, that's been the case for some time, due to the reasons I got that titanium hip in the first place.
That being said, I returned to coaching in the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup two weeks ago. We're working on using single sinawali as a template to learn how to "break in", leading up to things like block-check-counter and tapi-tapi drills. We're moving from different ranges, working the timing, and setting up (for now) punyo entries. It can be tough to get the timing right, and learning how to manage the range, so we're taking our time getting this right.
Meaty, meaty material, even if it's sort of simple.
I'm also back teaching on Monday nights at Elite Dragon. Their assignment while I was out was to come up with applications out of the Anyos that they've learned, and they really and truly did a fantastic job! We're also playing the six and ten count sumbrada.
Elite Dragon goes on hiatus on 12/21 until January 4, but I'm going to see if we can get a couple of backyard sessions organized over the break.
Oh, and over the break, we hosted Grand Master Art Miraflor, and that seminar was super-well received. The success of that has inspired us to try to bring in a few more well known teachers to the KC area in 2021, so stay tuned, y'all.
