I missed last week because of reasons I'll talk about below, so let's just roll.
TRAINING
In the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup as well as Elite Dragon Presas Arnis, we've been talking about and working disarms, mostly against high forehands and backhands. The intention is for our students to get good at some basic ones so they can insert it into our block-check-counter drill.
Last weekend I attended the World Modern Arnis Alliance virtual World Camp (hence no post last Friday). Sessions included disarms and counters to disarms, staff work, espada y daga, panantukan drills, knife drills, and much more. Virtual training is better than no training but I sure would have preferred to be there in person.
Stoopid virus.
Our big news is that we're hosting Mr. Chick's teacher GM Art Miraflor of MiraRada Escrima here in KC in November. Do what you must to come train with us, as GM Art is an amazing martial artist, a fantastic teacher, and just a super-decent human being. Event details on FB here.

FRIDAY THOUGHTS:
If you're reading this and was in Hurricane Laura's path, I hope you're safe and sound. I have lots of friends in that part of the world and I was worried about y'all.
I'm still struggling with shoulder and hip issues, but at least with the shoulder, my new doc trains in the Chinese Martial Arts, so he gets why this just can't be the way things are and it has to be fixed. So I'm a little more optimistic on that score.
Y'all stay safe, have fun, and keep training.
