Here in Kansas City, at least, Spring has sprung!
TRAINING
My new schedule means I'm back in the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup on Sundays, and that started over the weekend.
We covered all of the classical strikes - ocho-ocho, banda y banda, abaniko, up and down, rompida. I brought my "big sticks" - my bo - for them to hit an perfect their striking form. Very fun, and it was a pretty decent workout too.
Later that night I attended my Sunday night online FMA group, and we learned about Serrada Escrima basics from Carlito Bonjoc. VERY informative session!
BLOGGERY
Tuesday: My computer was a JERK - no post. 😒
Wednesday: Six "S" Attributes of Successful Martial Artists (guest post!)
You can find the Stick Chick Blog on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and MeWe, and on Pinterest, too.
Note: ANY links to the old blog published before 10/10/18 that you run across online are now broken.
OTHER NEATO BURRITO STUFF
My teacher, Mark Lynn, and my husband, Mr. Chick, were promoted to Master rank in MiraRada Escrima last weekend, under Grand Master Art Miraflor. I am SO PROUD of them!
You can still get in on the action in this week's Showdown Saturday question: Should martial arts experience go on a professional resume or c.v.? Why or why not?
It won't let me embed it, but THIS VIDEO is a steaming pile of OH GAWDS NO.
This was a great skit, wasn't it? Click on the image to see the whole video.
FRIDAY THOUGHTS:
It's St. Patrick's Day weekend, and in Kansas City, we celebrate all over town (seriously, there's like, four or five parades in town over the next couple of days). I'll be going to Snake Saturday (first time in 13 years). It's one of those times of year that makes me so happy to be back home!
Hope your week was productive!
