My Week in Stick Chicktivity - 02/19/21

I thought LAST WEEK was cold. Yikes! Let's get on it.

TRAINING:

Sunday at the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup, we introduced staff work using a 5 foot long rattan staff.

We converted the Modern Arnis 12 Angles of Attack to the staff, with some variations at the #5 and #12 angles, using the grip where both palms are down (what we're calling "Dos Manos" grip, after the short stick drills we have using that name). We then started working on a partner drill where one person attacks, the other defends using a specific technique.

We didn't get all the way to #12 - just to #8 - but we had a lot of fun and practice swinging and banging those big sticks!

Monday's class at Elite Dragon was canceled due to weather.

Therapy on the shoulder is making me stronger and have a greater range of motion, and I'm really happy about that!

BLOGGERY:

Come join us on our MeWe page, on Tumblr and Pinterest!

COME TRAIN WITH ME!

If you're in the Kansas City metro area, on Sunday we have the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup, and on Monday we have Presas Arnis class at Elite Dragon. Drop in and say "hi"!

Women of the martial arts! Come join these awesome people at the Partnership of Women Martial Artists symposium in Dallas in May (and yeah, I'm working on attending myself!)

I'm proud to have been chosen to participate as an instructor in the 1st Modern Arnis World Seminar on March 13, 2021! Learn more HERE.

FRIDAY THOUGHTS:

It's been bitter cold here in the Midwest, but it's been almost as bad down in Texas, and they don't have the equipment for that, y'all. Much love to all of you who've had to cope with blackouts and more cold than you can handle!

As always, stay safe, have fun, and keep training!
