My Week in Stick Chicktivity - 04/30/21

Updated: May 7, 2021

Time's just a'flying by, isn't it? Let's get to it.

TRAINING:

At the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup, most of the class worked on right on right tapi-tapi, and I worked with a new member with the 12 angles of attack and single sinawali. It's nice to have new faces!

At Elite Dragon, we introduced the "pokey drill" and punyo sweep entries using the two vs. 1 sinawali as a basic template. It was fun, working both drills, and it's giving them the skills they need that will lead them to tapi-tapi eventually.

And a little mom-brag here... Youngest Daughter competed in her first karate tournament (it's just an in-school tournament, but still, for a lot of those kids, it was their first time). She took 1st in Kata and 3rd in Sparring in her division! So proud!

Younger Daughter and some weirdo photobombing her.

BLOGGERY:

Tuesday: 4 Profound Life Lessons (Learned in the Martial Arts)

Wednesday: Not Wrong, Just Different

Thursday: Underdog

Come join us on our MeWe page, on Tumblr and Pinterest! The Facebook page is not being updated, but if we're friends on FB, you might see me post something there once in a while on my personal page.

DOING STUFF:

My teacher, Mark Lynn, will be teaching three kobudo forms at Elite Dragon on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15. Of course I'll be there. He's going to join us at the Kansas City Presas Arnis Meetup on Sunday, May 16, as well, and we plan to train until we just can't any more that day!

If you're interested in the Oyata lineage of Okinawan Kempo, you gotta attend this virtual seminar. Link is HERE.

Meet me (and Mr. Chick) at this awesome seminar in Nashville, TN! Learn more and register HERE.

We (Kindred Protective Arts and Elite Dragon Martial Arts) are hosting Bruce Chiu of Arnis International (on Facebook HERE and on Instagram HERE) in June!

You can learn more at the Facebook event HERE, the MeWe event HERE, and the Meetup HERE. We are SO EXCITED to host this event, and we really hope all y'all will join us!

If you can't make it to Missouri on the last weekend in June, perhaps you can make it to the Progressive Arnis Spring Camp in North Carolina? Details HERE.

I've also booked my flight to attend the World Modern Arnis Alliance Remy Presas Memorial Camp in August (event on Facebook HERE).

FRIDAY THOUGHTS:

This weekend we're taking a bit of a family vacation along with some close friends, and I couldn't be more excited! I actually haven't taken a vacation-vacation, one I planned to do... ever, at least, not as an adult. So I won't be around this weekend, and there won't be a Meetup this Sunday.

Y'all stay safe, have fun, and keep training!
