FACE-OFF FRIDAY: Only Fighting Ability Matters?

It's FACE-OFF FRIDAY!

This often comes up in discussion of fraudulent lineages - that none of that matters as long as a person can win a fight.

The claim is that it doesn't matter if a person claims a rank he or she didn't earn.  It doesn't matter if he or she claims to have trained under a teacher who doesn't exist.

As long as a person can fight, that's the only thing that actually matters in the martial arts.  The rest isn't important and should be ignored.
I'd love to know what you think of this claim.

IS FIGHTING ABILITY THE ONLY TRUE MEASURE OF A MARTIAL ARTIST?
